Rising from Adversity: The Journey of a Young NZ-Based Entrepreneur

Introduction: Hello, dear readers! My name is Petra, and I'm a young, ambitious entrepreneur based in New Zealand. Today, I want to share my story of overcoming a challenging upbringing and pursuing my passion for entrepreneurship. Life wasn't always easy for me, but I believe that every obstacle has led me to where I am today. So, grab a cup of tea, and let me take you on a journey through my past, present, and exciting future!

A Tough Beginning: My roots are embedded in the history of war and resilience. My grandmother fled the horrors of the Khmer War in Cambodia after losing her husband and two children. She brought my mother to New Zealand, where we grew up in the state houses of Auckland. Life was far from easy, and my grandmother had to endure immense hardships to raise our family. Unfortunately, my parents took a path that led them astray, leaving me in the care of my remarkable grandmother, who had already endured so much.

The Battle Against Stereotypes: As a young girl growing up, I faced the burden of stereotypes and discrimination. Due to the war's devastating effects, my grandmother believed that as a female, I wouldn't amount to much intellectually. This mindset echoed throughout my school years and upbringing, constantly drilling into me that I was not intelligent. Despite these discouragements, I was drawn to multiple passions, including art, nails, hair, computer science, business, and reading. But above all, my heart was set on becoming an entrepreneur.

The Early Seeds of Entrepreneurship: My entrepreneurial journey began at a time when plastic bags still dominated supermarkets in New Zealand. Eager to make a positive impact on the environment, I came up with a brilliant idea: buying paper bags in bulk and selling them to eco-conscious customers outside supermarkets for a mere 50 cents each. Although I wasn't allowed to pursue this venture, I can't help but wonder how successful it could have been. Nevertheless, this experience ignited a fire within me to keep exploring entrepreneurship.

The Undying Entrepreneurial Spirit: Today, I stand here with an unwavering entrepreneurial spirit, ready to take on the world. My deep passion lies in Eternails Studio, and I am grateful for the few supporters and customers who believe in me and my vision. It's more than a business to me; it's a chance to revolutionize the industry with our innovative products. And guess what? We have even more exciting things coming on the horizon!

Balancing Passion with Reality: Balancing my passion for entrepreneurship with the realities of life has been challenging. I still study full-time and work part-time, but I know these are temporary sacrifices. I'm determined to turn my passion into my full-time purpose and dedicate myself to building a thriving business that can make a real difference.

Conclusion: As I reflect on my past and look toward the future, I can't help but feel grateful for every twist and turn that brought me to this point. My upbringing taught me the value of resilience and determination. I refuse to let anyone's perception of me define my potential.

With every nail I paint and every business decision I make, I'm one step closer to fulfilling my dream of changing the world through my entrepreneurial ventures. To those of you reading this, I hope my story serves as a reminder that adversity can't hinder our dreams; it merely adds strength to our pursuit.

Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I can't wait to share more exciting updates as I continue to chase my entrepreneurial ambitions! Stay tuned, and together, let's change the world, one nail at a time.
